Abstract
Background: Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood that includes various changes, one of which is emotional. Anxiety is often an emotional change that teenagers experience. Perceived as a threat, anxiety describes feelings of worry. Five-finger hypnosis is a relaxation technique that helps to overcome anxiety by reducing stress and creating feelings of calm and comfort. Research objective: To determine the effectiveness of five-finger hypnosis in reducing anxiety in adolescents at the Nurusshibyan Singkawang Islamic Boarding School. Research Method: This study employs a quantitative experimental approach, utilizing a quasi-experiment design that includes a pretest-posttest and a control group. The study employed a stratified random sampling technique, involving a total of 36 respondents. Results: The research revealed that the level of anxiety was mild and moderate before receiving five-finger hypnosis, but it decreased to no anxiety and mild anxiety after the treatment. The effectiveness of five-finger hypnosis in reducing anxiety before and after being given five-finger hypnosis therapy to adolescents using the Wilcoxon statistical test shows a significant value of 0.000 < 0.05. Conclusion: The research finds that five-finger hypnosis is effective in reducing anxiety in adolescents at the Nurusshibyan Singkawang Islamic boarding school. Future researchers are expected to conduct research by applying five-finger hypnosis to final-year students.
