KONSELING KELUARGA TERHADAP KESADARAN GIZI KELUARGA DAN STATUS GIZI BALITA
Abstract
Low levels of nutritional awareness have an impact on the incidence of stunting in toddlers. The study objective was to analyze the influence of family counseling for family nutritional awareness and the nutritional status among toddlers. The research used a mixed method; quantitative with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design and qualitative by interview. This study performed family counseling therapy for participants (5 families in the control group and 5 families in the intervention group) The intervention group was given 6 sessions of family counseling therapy for 60 minutes, while the control group was given health education through leaflet. T-test was performed to measure the difference between family nutritional awareness and toddler’s z-score nutritional statuses as one pre- and post-test comparison of baseline and 2 weeks of data in control and intervention groups. In-depth interviews were conducted to explore behavioral change information after intervention. Based on the t-test, there were significant differences in increasing family nutritional awareness in the control (ΔM±SD=7.80±3.633; 95% CI=–12.311– (–3.289)) and intervention groups (ΔM±SD=13.80±4.324; 95% CI=–19.169 – (-8.431)) after family counseling therapy. On the other hand, toddlers’ nutritional status showed P>0.05 for each index, meaning there is no significant difference in toddlers’ nutritional status after family counseling. It can be concluded that family counseling therapy effectively increases family nutritional awareness (tcount:2.375; P= 0.046). Therefore, it is expected that health workers to provide family counseling and conduct further research on the frequency of family counseling on the nutritional status of toddlers in a sufficient time. In addition, health workers can empower Posyandu cadres to implement family counseling.
