Author Guidelines

1. Introduction
Jurnal Laboratorium Khatulistiwa (JLK) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes high-quality research articles in the field of health sciences. These Author Guidelines are intended to assist authors in preparing manuscripts that meet the journal’s standards for publication.

Authors are strongly encouraged to adhere strictly to these guidelines to ensure a smooth editorial and review process.

2. Scope of the Journal
Jurnal Laboratorium Khatulistiwa (JLK) aims to disseminate conceptual ideas, theoretical developments, and original research findings in the field of Medical Laboratory Science and related health disciplines. The journal serves as a scientific platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to share knowledge and advancements that contribute to the development of laboratory-based health sciences.

JLK particularly focuses on key issues and recent developments in Medical Laboratory Science, including but not limited to the following areas:

Toxicology
Immunoserology
Bacteriology
Clinical Chemistry
Parasitology
Mycology
Other related disciplines in medical laboratory and health sciences
The journal welcomes high-quality manuscripts that provide significant contributions to scientific knowledge, methodological advancements, and practical applications in laboratory medicine and allied health fields.

3. Submission Policy
Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by other journals.
Submissions may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English.
Manuscripts should be submitted through the official journal submission system.
Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the content prior to submission.
4. Manuscript Preparation
4.1 General Formatting
Font: Times New Roman
Font size: 11 pt (main text)
Line spacing: Single spacing
Text alignment: Justified
4.2 Manuscript Structure
a. Title
The title should be concise, informative, and reflect the content of the article.
Written in Times New Roman, 14 pt, bold.
b. Authors and Affiliations
List full names of all authors without academic degrees.
Include institutional affiliations and the corresponding author’s email address.
Written in Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold.
c. Abstract
Must be written in italic, Times New Roman 11 pt, single spacing.
Length: 100–250 words.
Should include:
Background
Methods
Results
Conclusion
Language requirements:
Manuscripts in Indonesian → Abstract in Indonesian and English
Manuscripts in English → Abstract in English only
d. Keywords
Provide 3–6 keywords.
Written in Times New Roman 11 pt.
5. Main Content
5.1 Introduction
The Introduction should clearly present:

Background of the study
Review of relevant previous studies (state of the art)
Scientific novelty
Research problem or hypothesis
Objectives of the study
A separate literature review section is not permitted; it should be integrated into the Introduction.
All citations must follow the Vancouver referencing style.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
