Open Access Policy

Jurnal Kebidanan Khatulistiwa (JKK) provides immediate open access to its published content. The journal supports the dissemination of scientific knowledge in midwifery, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and related health sciences by making research freely available to readers, healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and the wider community.

1. Immediate and Free Access

Published articles are freely available online immediately upon publication, without an embargo period. Readers and their institutions are not required to pay subscription fees or individual article access charges. Registration is not required to read or download published articles.

Jurnal Kebidanan Khatulistiwa supports the open-access principles expressed in the Budapest Open Access Initiative. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of articles, and use them for indexing, text and data mining, and other lawful purposes, subject to the applicable article license.

Open access at a glance: Immediate availability, no subscription, no reader access fees, and no embargo on published articles.

2. Copyright, Licensing, and Reuse

Authors retain copyright in their articles. The journal's standard publication license is the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0), subject to the license statement accompanying each article. Readers should check the individual article's license, particularly when it contains previously published or third-party material.

This license permits copying, redistribution, and adaptation, including commercial reuse, without requesting separate permission, provided that the license conditions are met:

  • Attribution: Users must credit the authors and the original publication in Jurnal Kebidanan Khatulistiwa, retain applicable notices, provide links to the source and license, and indicate whether changes have been made. Attribution must not imply endorsement by the authors or the journal.

  • ShareAlike: Adaptations must be distributed under the same license or a license recognized as compatible with CC BY-SA 4.0.

  • No additional restrictions: Users must not impose legal or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the permissions granted by the license.

Third-party material identified as excluded from the article's license may require separate permission from the relevant rights holder. Privacy, confidentiality, and other applicable rights may also affect reuse. The applicable license terms govern permitted use; this policy does not replace them.

Further information is available in the journal's Copyright Notice.

3. Sharing and Repository Deposit

Authors and readers may share and deposit the published version of an article in institutional or subject repositories, personal websites, and other platforms in accordance with the article's license, without an embargo.

Deposited copies should retain the article's authorship, publication details, copyright notice, and license information. Authors and repository administrators are encouraged to include the DOI or a link to the article's page on the journal website so that readers can locate the version of record and any subsequent correction, expression of concern, or retraction notice.

Sharing and repository deposit must respect applicable copyright, licensing, research ethics, participant confidentiality, and privacy requirements.

4. Reader Access and Author Fees

Open access means that readers can access published articles without payment. Any article processing charges, publication fees, or optional service charges applicable to authors are described separately in the journal's Author Fees Policy.

Authors should review the applicable fee policy before submitting their manuscripts. Payment of any applicable fee does not guarantee acceptance or influence editorial decisions. Manuscripts are evaluated according to their scholarly merit, relevance to the journal's scope, methodological quality, research integrity, and the journal's peer-review process.

5. Preservation and Access Support

Jurnal Kebidanan Khatulistiwa is committed to supporting the long-term availability of its published scholarly content through its electronic archiving and digital preservation arrangements, as described in the journal's Electronic Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy.

Readers who experience difficulty accessing a published article or require clarification concerning this policy may contact the journal's Editorial Office through the official Contact page on the journal website.
