PENGARUH PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN ORANG TUA DALAM PENANGANAN AWAL KEGAWATDARURATAN KEJANG DEMAM PADA BALITA DI RUANG SANTA AGNES R.S.U SANTO VINCENTIUS SINGKAWANG TAHUN 2024
Abstract
Background: febrile seizures are a common disease in children. Parents of toddlers with febrile seizures feel worried and worried if their toddler has a fever and their body temperature does not immediately come down. This can be caused by parents' lack of knowledge about the initial handling of febrile seizures in toddlers. One of the factors that can change a person's behavior is health education. By providing health education, it has been proven that it can increase information and thus change parents' knowledge in treating febrile seizures in toddlers. Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the effect of health education about febrile seizures on parents' knowledge in early emergency management in toddlers. Method: The method in this research is quantitative research with a quasi experimental design with a Pre and Post Test Without Control Group Design. The population in this study was 43 parents who had toddlers sampled using consecutive sampling. This research was conducted for 2 months, namely January-February 2024 in the Santa Agnes Room, R.S.U Santo Vincentius Singkawang. Data collection is in the form of a questionnaire. Statistical tests use the Wilcoxon test. Results: The statistical test results obtained a significance value of 0.000 (p value 0.05), meaning that there is an influence of health education on parental knowledge in the initial management of emergency febrile seizures in toddlers. Health education can increase knowledge so that it can change parents' knowledge in the initial handling of febrile seizure emergencies in toddlers. Conclusion: The conclusion of this research is that there is an influence of health education on parents' knowledge in the initial handling of emergency febrile seizures in toddlers in the Santa Agnes Room at R.S.U Santo Vincentius Singkawang in 2024.
