Jurnal Media Khatulistiwa adalah merupakan jurnal gizi, pangan dan kesehatan yang dimaksudkan untuk menjadi media penyebaran ilmu gizi dan kesehatan kepada masyarakat. Selain tentu saja ingin menjadikan tanggung jawab untuk menyebarluaskan hasil penelitian dengan tujuan:

1. Membantu para peneliti menyebarluaskan hasil penelitian mereka ke komunitas lebih luas. Dengan cara ini, peneliti lain juga dapat mempelajari hasil penelitian dan mengembangkan ide-ide baru yang berkaitan.  
2. Sebagai sumber informasi yang terpercaya karena setiap artikel yang diterbitkan telah melalui proses penyuntingan yang ketat oleh editor dan reviewer. 
3. Sebagai alat evaluasi bagi para pemerhati ilmu gizi. Hal ini akan membantu peneliti mengevaluasi hasil penelitiannya dengan cara membandingkannya dengan hasil penelitian peneliti lain dalam bidang yang sama. Dengan demikian para peneliti dapat mengevaluasi kemajuan yang dibuat di bidang sains dan memperluas pengetahuan mereka tentang subjek tersebut.  
4. Menambah sumber referensi untuk mengembangkan ide-ide baru dan memperluas pengetahuan dalam suatu bidang penelitian.
